Recitation means saying something aloud from memory or a formal reading. The word comes from the Latin prefix re, "again," and the word culture, "to summon." Summoning again from memory is recitation. Meaning "act of repeating aloud what has been committed to memory" is from the 1620s; that of "repetition of a prepared lesson" by a pupil or students is by 1770, American English. Reading rhyming poetry loudly makes it easier for younger children to learn new vocabulary words which strengthens their language, writing, and reading skills. The tiny tots were given poems based on the animals of the case study which they recited enthusiastically. The ideas and feelings developed for the different beasts of beauty accentuated with the use of distinctive style and rhythm was delivered through this public speaking activity with a focus on rhythm, alliteration, and some repetitions. This new and imaginative form for the children provided them with an adventure for the mind. The platform provided an environment that promoted audible expression and was embedded as a core part of the curriculum. The aim of the activity was to enable them to exhibit their talent, boost their confidence and acquaint the toddlers with the complicated machinery of the body. They were taught how even a slight or expansive gesture of the hand matters in conveying the sense of line or thought. Through this activity, they also learned to express themselves through facial expressions and body posture to connect with the audience at an emotional level. Through recitation, students fine-tune their close-reading skills, master effective public speaking and listening skills, and improve their focus and memory. The mental tools used in this type of learning have even been proven to improve brain function! The purpose of recitation is to help students apply the information they've learned in the lecture.
